100 Yen Kids Pool in Kadena Town

In Okinawa, we can easily access to nice beach and clear ocean, but for kids swimming pool is much safer and easier. One option is swimming pools in hotels. The other option is pool running by Kadena town, called 'Kadena Water Garden.'

Kadena Water Garden has one big pool and one small pool. Both pools are not deep, probably 50 cm depth. Big pool is enjoyable for around 10 year old kids and small one is for 4-5 year old kids.

Price is 100 JPN Yen for one children. Yes, ONE HUNDRED JPN Yen. Super Cheap. Free for Adult. This pool is for kids, not for adult. So Adult (Parents) can't swim and price is free. You can get wet to support kid swimming. Little bit weird but we have to accept this rule.

The other rule is swimming cap is required (for kids). No lifeguard, parents have to watch your kids.
!! You have to watch out the small island in the small pool. It is very slippery on the small island. I saw at least 3 kids slipped on this island and hit head.

Japanese Kaiseki Hitoshizuku at Chatan

My wife requested me to go to the Japanese Kaiseki (懐石料理) restaurant at Chanatan for birthday Lunch. Finally, we can make it. We keep this restaurant in our should-visit-list for a long time.
We reserved our seats around 11:30am for lunch time on Monday. I recommend to reserve seats. 

Restaurant chef worked at 割烹 kappou restaurant in Tokyo. Sound nice and Japanese kaiseki is only menu for lunch time. Price is 1500 JPN Yen.

What is kaiseki ? From wikipedia,
Kaiseki (懐石^?) or kaiseki ryōri (懐石料理^?) is a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner. The term also refers to the collection of skills and techniques that allow the preparation of such meals, and are analogous to Western haute cuisine.^[1]



anyway, we enjoy lunch course. Here is beautiful photos. Every month each dish is different. Used seasonal ingrediants.
Dashi (fish soup) is using most dishes. Smooth and tasty for us. Vegetable is main for all dishes. If you are meat eater, you will not be satisfied as volume. and me neither.

If you have guests from out japan, and they will not stop by tokyo or kyoto, this restaurant is only choice to enjoy Japanese Kaiseki, I think.

Hama Ya Traditional Okinawa soba at sunabe!

I love this Okinawa noodle shop. We don't have good view comparing Nakamura soba etc, but taste and price is awesome. Place is next to Sunabe seawall. You can stop by after surfing or diving at Sunaba easily.

We always order normal Okinawa soba and Yushi Tofu soba. Yushi tofu soba is coming with steam rice. You can change to Jucyyy in additional 50 JPN Yen. We always order so.

Okinawa noodle and pork katsu

In summer time, famous okinawa noodle shops are crowded by tourist during Lunch time. I don't want to wait for lunch. Miyo Ya is one choice. Not famous and not crowded, but tasty. Actually we repeated several times last two months. If you like non-oily soup for noodle, this is one choice for you. (Bansho tei is the other choice.)

I ordered Pork katsu set, including noodle, rice, and pork Katsu. around 700 JPN Yen. Cheap!



Inside is pretty clean and new.

Cucina itarian Upuraya for lunch.

We went to Sunabe area for lunch. Restaurant name is Upuraya, located at one road ocean side from 58, near Kokutai road.

Lunch set is around 1000 -2000 JPN Yen, including appetizer buffet and main dish. This time we select pasta as main dishes.

I think appetizer is bit weird. Mixed Japanese, Korean food, and salad bar although restaurant is Italian. And apettizer quality is not good. Looks like pre-cooked staff. However, pasta quality is pretty good. I and my wife enjoyed pasta very much. I saw fish dishes for the other customer. And looks good as well.
We 'll try again this restaurant and order fish dish as main next time.

Nice cafe near Mihama, Seaside cafe by TAKAYA

I'm looking for nice cafe space near Mihama area, and one of my friends recommended SeaSide cafe. The location is little bit south of Mihama JUSCO area. Back side of main road around Mihama and in front of the ocean. Nice and quiet area.






We ordered today's special, lasagna, and cream cheese and smoked salmon sandwich(bread is Baguette).
Both are great taste and enough volume.




I believe price is around 1000 JPN Yen, including drink.
People use computer, so it might be WiFi available.

Gordies

If you want to eat burgers, here is one option at Sunabe.
ground beef grilled at charcoal oven. Smell nice and taste good. Volume is enough even after surfing.

Price is from 650 JPN Yen, including french fry and soup. Not soda.

We ordered Chili burger (900 JPN Yen)


and Cheese burger (750 JPN Yen)


Counter as well. You can visit by yourself. Furniture etc is oldies USA.

Okinawa soba with ocean view

Between Kadena and Yomitan, there is one Okinawa soba shop with ocean view. Nakamura Soba is quite popular in Onna village, but if you want to eat noodle in the quiet place with your partner, this is pretty nice place. Shop atmosphere is more like cafe rather than soba shop.

Price is 600 JPN Yen for normal size. For me, pretty enough size. For female, small size (400 JPN Yen) might be good.
Noodle itself is straight and soup is OK. little bit salty for me.



Unfortunately, rainy day. It should be better view.
