Bistro @ Shintoshin Naha

I gave up to find nice casual Bistro at Okinawa. but here it is. Named Monmartre. Nice casual and friendly bistro. I like it.

I didn't make reservation for lunch. Surprisingly inside restaurant was full before noon. So we sat the terrace seat. For us it was better to have outside seat because kids are screaming sometime :-). We visited during the Golden week, but I recommend to call restaurant before you go and ask how today is, crowded or not.

Parking place is difficult to find.  You should get in and park the next building parking shortly and ask a waiter. or if you don't want to park small parking lot, you can park DFS and walk to restaurant.

Weekend lunch is from 1980 Yen with appetizer, soup, main dish, and dessert plus drink. Probably weekday lunch have cheaper one, but we recommend 1980 Yen lunch if you drive the long distance from Onna or yomitan.

BACAR Nice napoli pizza around Naha

We miss napoli pizza around Onna area after picolino gone.
 We tried nice pizza restaurant at Naha. Yes, if you want to eat delicious one, you have to drive to south.

Restaurant name is 'Bacar'. Famous pizza restaurant at Naha.
Lunch service is only weekday. so I can't make it for the long time. During spring break, we went to the BACAR during lunch time service.
Restaurant is small. So I recommend to go there opening time 11:30 am for the lunch time.

Price is around 1200 Yen with soup, pizza and drink. or 1500 Yen with pizza, soup, appetizer and drink.

You can easily see how delicious  all foods are. No explanation. Enjoy.

One of the best pastries in okinawa. oHacorte, bit pricy though.

I knew this pastry, oHacorte,  looks tasty from photos, but I couldn't try it for the long time in Okinawa. This is because the place seems to be located around complicated region and unknown region for me.

Recently I realized new branch shop was opened near Naha Airport. Finally I can go.
Taste is promised from the looks of tart. I can't see this kind of beauty of sweets in Okinawa. But I was surprised the price of tart cakes. At least 600 JPN Yen for each tart. Like Tokyo price. I should understand this price because nice fruits are top on the tart.

I chose peach tart and seasonal fruit tart. and cheese tart for kids.
I like taste but I prefer the round size of tart which I ate at my friend birthday from this shop.
If you are not satisfied the quality of sweets in Okinawa, you should visit there. Their taste makes you happy.

Cake box is also cute.

Okinawa soba near 3A main city at Naha new capital

It's not easy to find good restaurant near Naha new capital area.
One of my recommendation is the Udon and Tempura shop. Good quality of Tempura.

Here is the other restaurant, good for family. Free noodle for kids and free rice(Ju-cy-) during lunch time.


Restaurant outside (building )itself is prefabricated house, you can usual see at the contraction field. It looks old, weird, and not clean. But inside is clean and taste is good. Waiters are all smile and good attitude. I feel good atmosphere even this is the first time.

Inside is clean and you can see alot of famous signatures.




Soup is very clear, and not oily. not salty. I like this kind of clear and smooth style of Okinawa soba. It similar to 'Miyoya' in Kidana.
Noodle was served afeter 2 min we ordered. very quick.

Free ju-cy(rice) and kid noodle is good for family. and price is very reasonable (500-700JPN Yen).

A bit luxury supermarket 'My kitchen'

If you get bored to go to the typical supermarket, like 3A or Max Value, in Okinawa, You should try 'My kithcen' near Outlet mall in Naha. 'My kitchen' seems to be organized by the department store, Okinawa Mitsukoshi. You can find a bit different and luxury food grocery there. We stop by this supermarket after shopping the outlet mall. We are always exited and enjoy there.
PS. The Ashibina outlet mall seems to be renovated and more stores are coming on Dec.

Smoothies and Scone at Nishihara

One weekend we enjoyed driving near Ryukyu University at Nishihara. We tried to find nice cafe for lunch without any information. Finally, we found the sign of 'Cafe' and decided to stop by.



After we entered this cafe, we realized this cafe is scone shop, not for lunch. Well, we ate sweets and smoothies before lunch. Sometimes opposite order might be fine. Customers continuously come in the shop and ordered scones. Very famous scone shop in Nishihara local. And I totally understood cheap and tasty scones in this shop. and we loved smoothies as well.

After this sweets, we went to Italian restaurant sola, pretty closed from this cafe.

Small cafe near Naha Market (Kokusai street)

When you walk Kokusai street at Naha, You need a rest. We try to find nice cafe around there, but I always give up and jump into this small cafe, called Chatan Coffee. Space is small but they serve very nice coffee. (Unfortunately they don't have sweets. so I can get sugar to recover from tired.) When I go to this cafe, I buy coffee beans as well to brew at home.

If you know good cafe around Kokusai Dori, let me know. I'll check it out next time.

Udon & Tempura at Naha

In Japan, you can find 4 kinds of noodle; Ramen noodle, Udon, Soba, and Okinawa soba.
There are many Okinawa soba restaurants in Okinawa, but few Udon noodle.

One choice to get cheap Udon noodle is 'Hanamaru Udon' at JASCO food court. Price is around 2-300 JPN Yen and quick. You should try.

If you want to get more sophisticated Udon(Sanuki) and Tenpura. 'Sanuki Menten' at Naha is one spot I recommend. You can stop by when you go to San A Naha main city.
Sanuki Udon noodle is one of major noodle in Japan. Noodle itself is bit tough but enjoy texture and soup.



Udon with Tempura set is around 800 JPN Yen. You can select hot or cold noodle. I recommend cold soup noodle and additional shrimp tempura, cost 880 JPN Yen.

Inside restaurant is pretty clean but not big. Counter table and 2 large tables.
I 've heard Italian restaurant at 2nd floor in the same building is also good. I'll try it later.

Namizou (Ramen noodle) in Naha.

It is not easy to find good Ramen noodle in Okinawa.
Namizou is one option to get good one.

Noodle type is different by soup.
Thin type noodle is with salt soup and fat type noodle is with Namizou or soysource soup.
